| When I Grow Up |
|
Six little kittens sat talking one day Of their big cat cousins far away And each little kitten took their turn And said; When I grow up I'm going to be…. A leopard And I'll hunt so silently All by myself, solitary And I'll drag my catch high in a tree Where no-one can reach it except for me! When I grow up I'm going to be…. A panther And be a leopard in disguise In jet black coat with piercing eyes Proud strong and jungle wise I'll catch prey twice my size! When I grow up I'm going to be…. A lion With a swishy tail and a magnificent mane I will be king of the African plain Over my pride of lionesses I shall reign And roar louder than an express train! When I grow up I'm going to be…. A cheetah Sleek and slender with tremendous power To reach speeds of 70 miles an hour At jackals and vultures I will glower But from hyenas and lions I will cower! When I grow up I'm going to be…. A tiger I'll be a rebel and obey no laws With my mighty muscles and big fat paws From which I'll extend my fine sharp claws And kill with my powerful jaws! But the sixth little kitten The smallest of them all Said; When I grow up I'm going to be…. Just like mummy And be owned by a family I won't need to be fierce, When they stroke me I won't have to hunt, Because they'll feed me I won't have to roar, Just purr softly I won't feel scared, Because they'll protect me I won't have to race, I can just be lazy And sleep on their bed, Because they'll let me. That sounds good the kittens agreed Let's all be cats of the domestic breed. |
