Hi, and welcome to my website of Poetry and Words to share!

In 2001 the words in my imagination found their way onto paper, starting with children's poetry and growing into what it is today, a diverse mix of dancing trees, to the reality of war, from deep emotion to gentle humour, influenced both by my love of music and the natural world. I believe poetry should be accessible to all and one of my greatest joys is performing my poetry to a wide audience. As a healthcare worker I share my poetry through my work and many of my poems, designed and illustrated on the computer, adorn many a wall of establishments I have worked in.

Through being a member of Forces Poetry I have become aware of a deeper side to my writing, hence the wide range of poetry and prose you can read by clicking on the link on this page.

Born in inner city Birmingham, I was always a daydreamer and from the age of five often took myself off on little adventures, much to the annoyance of my family! As an adult these adventures led me to live in various locations in England and the North East of Scotland. From East Sussex, Jan has taken her writing to North East Wales & is looking forward to the inspiration this brings!

From humble beginnings writing poetry has expanded my horizons. I now enjoy reading and discovering other poets, from the simplicity of John Clare to the war poetry of Wilfred Owen. It also led me to study for my GCSE English at the age of 46, gaining an A star! Pieces of prose I wrote as part of the course work can be found by following the link, other works.

In 2008, at the age of 50 I published my first book "Words in Imagination." In 2010 I was delighted to be able to anounce my second book of poetry "On Calico Wings". Please follow the link books for further details.

I hope you enjoy your peek into my world of poetry and please feel free to contact me, or leave a comment via the link on this page.
